I am very pleased to be writing you today “Southampton Alumni Society in Taiwan” has been established and approved by Ministry of Interior. Over 10 months paper works, it is definitely not an easy task. However, we found impressive enthusiasm and generosity when we encounter some difficulties. We deeply appreciate those great supports of every alumni involved to make this magnificent success.
The society group will do our best to provide more information sharing and networking events in coming days. It’s not completed now. We are still working on Website construction and plan for summer events for you all. It’s just a beginning!

來自台灣的英國皇家藝術學院畢業生廖人暉，受邀於倫敦維多利亞與艾伯特博物館表演作品「The Self Portrait Machine Projec /自畫像機計劃」。
2009年畢業於Royal College of Art (RCA)的年輕設計師廖人暉，受邀至倫敦知名博物館Victoria &Albert Museum (V&A)為該館最新的數位藝術展覽-Decode做周末作品演出。他表示這次受邀為V&A表演的設計,是他於去年在RCA畢業的藝術創作- The Self Portrait Machine Project/自畫像機計劃，該計劃去年九月也曾受邀於倫敦設計週展示。此計劃是一個從人與機器互動合作自畫像的方式，讓參觀者體會與思考人類與工業化社會之間的緊密合作關係是如何的塑造了我們的意識與生活，甚至是影響了理論中應該最原創並完整的個人自我意識。
廖人暉表示該表演機會是非常幸運且難得的機會，能夠在建立超過一個半世紀的 V&A表演，更難能可貴的是，博物館願意提供雕塑藝術走廊作為期三天的表演場地，讓參觀者能在博物館收藏的文藝復興期中大理石雕像群中，與十分現代且機械感的自畫像機互動。如此珍貴的場地，不僅能提供跨越數百年時空與文明演進的想像，並藉此人們與藝術互動，刺激人們對於自身存在意義的探究。

A young designer, Jen-hui Liao who graduated from the Royal College of Art last year, is invited to show his art project as part of weekend events of new exhibition- Decode in Victoria & Albert Museum . The Self Portrait Machine Project which was also shown in 2009 London digital design week is an art project focus on how we hu ma n cooperate with the modern industria li zed society to create our self-identity in li fe. By cooperating with the movement from ma chine, visitors create a self-drawn portrait but from external ma chine’s point of view and sign by the ma chine named Geppetto.
The perfor ma nce will take place in V&A on 26th-28th of February in sculpture gallery 22 amount ma rble portrait sculptures from renaissance. Jen-hui says: it is a very rear opportunity to have such a great space for modern digital art perfor ma nce. It ma kes visitors able to i ma ge how we hu ma n see ourselves in the culture evolution process.

Cornwallis Academy, a specialist Science and Technology Academy has developed links with the Languages department at New Line Learning Academy located in Boughton Lane which has a specialism in Business and Enterprise and Vocational studies, in order to focus on the business languages of Spanish and Mandarin.
At the heart of what we are trying to do is raise standards. We want more pupils to be more academically successful in order that they can compete for better and higher paid jobs and be prepared for a working life that will be characterised by fast, often destabilising change.
We are looking to recruit to the following post: Teacher of Mandarin
An enthusiastic and innovative teacher is required to join the Languages team based at New Line Learning Academy to assist in the set up of the Mandarin curriculum at Cornwallis Academy. Due to the nature of the role, the applicant may be required to work at both Academies as well as primary schools in supporting the Primary outreach programme. A strong commitment to raising student attainment is required. This post would be suitable for NQT's or more experienced teachers.

王心凌性感照 掀類睡衣熱潮
29歲女創意設計
這一款女性潮牌「Pyjamaz」（英文原文「Pajamas」，意指睡衣）大膽以裸色系類睡衣概念著手，二十九歲的設計總監吳依儒在倫敦研讀時尚研究，回台後，去年三月開設工作室，一手包辦設計打版、尋覓原料、裁剪縫製。
吳依儒剛開始僅在網路推出裸色系貼身睡衣，去年在網站放上女模穿膚色貼身洋裝的激凸照片，經網友口耳相傳打開知名度，創下單日近十萬元的銷售金額。吳依儒說，裸色系類睡衣的設計，以「像睡衣一樣舒服的衣服」為發想，盼透過舒服的材質和簡單的裁縫，讓女性呈現「最不用力的性感。」推出之後廣受好評，戴佩妮、王宇婕等藝人都成為熟客，王心凌拍新專輯贈品年曆時，更主動向唱片公司推薦該品牌。
王心凌事後大手筆花六位數字買回所有穿過的衣服，還私下網購新產品，她得知《蘋果》要報導該品牌時，透過唱片公司開心地說：「那表示我的眼光很好！」

CME 舉辦 How to design and deliver IB/ IGCSE/GCSE courses

Thank you for your interest in the CME CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Teacher Training Workshops for Mandarin Teachers, 2 separate workshops, which will take place Sat/Sun 26th & 27th June 2010 in Kingston upon Thames. The booking form is not quite ready...so, in the meantime, I hope the following details will be useful for you and answer most of the questions received so far.

Workshop 1: Saturday 26th June – 1 day workshop
MAIN FOCUS: “How to design and deliver IB Standard B and IB B High courses”
Yamin Ma and Xinying Li are not currently teaching IB ab initio but will be able to offer advice and guide discussion as teachers share any concerns and issues about IB ab initio

Workshop 2: Sunday 27th June – 1 day workshop
MAIN FOCUS: “How to design and deliver GCSE and IGCSE courses”
(To be conducted in English or Chinese depending on target audience)
Venue: Surbiton / Kingston upon Thames, Surrey (Venue to be confirmed but we have provisional booking!) Please note places are limited to 35 delegates per workshop.
Cost: £150 per day (includes VAT,lunch, beverages and handouts - there will be 10% discount for those attending both days) - (please note the cost per day will include a £50 non-returnable deposit should the delegate cancel for any reason up to 45 days prior to the start of the course. Full payment will be required to reserve your place and must be paid a minimum of 45 days prior to the start of the workshop at which point no refund will be made on cancellation of your place)
Time: (approx timings) Registration 9am for 9.30 start till 6.15pm
Delivery Language: Both English and Mandarin! As the workshop leaders are fluent in both English and Mandarin, workshops in the past have been delivered in a dynamic mix of both English and Mandarin and questions are welcomed in whichever language you feel most comfortable. Slides and handouts will be in English and discussions may be in either! Please bear with us whilst we put together the booking form but feel free to email if you require further details. (please note we will not be able to organise accomodation for you)

林鈺倫赴英參展 設計35款女裝
去年取得英國中央聖馬丁藝術大學服裝設計女裝碩士歸國的林鈺倫，最近獲母校邀請，將參加2月底至3月初在倫敦舉辦的秋冬女裝設計展，她融合男裝的極簡風搭配傳統男裝的縫製技巧，設計35款女裝參展。
25歲的林鈺倫是台中市人，她的8件碩士畢業作品，結合男裝細節與製作技巧，並融入女裝時尚元素，展現截然不同新概念，是這次獲邀參加倫敦柯印史比藝廊服裝展的主因。

經過漫長的等待(大約5個月)，南安普頓大學台灣校友會終於獲得內政部的初步行文核准(98/7/29)...並在今年1/17招開了第一次的大會也成功招募約33位會員~ 目前,前置作業也正在如火如荼的規劃當中~希望未來能成立一個有組織的南安校友會. 本人代表會長在此邀請南安的校友們您的加人. 後續消息會持續為您報導 ~
