Master of Accounting

V880 (Onshore Skill Independence Overseas student) you will not be qualified if you only study in Australia for (total) one and half yrs

Usually, the Bachelor or above degree or diploma acquired from Australian education Institution will be enough for skill assessment.

For skill assessment of accounting, please see the website of CPAA, ICAA, or NIA.

You can find the information about CPAA, ICAA, and NIA from:

http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/1121i.pdf (from DIMIA website)

7. NOT REALLY!!!

There is no legal requirement that accountants be registered with the government in Australia (with the exception of tax agents, liquidators, financial advisers and external auditors of publicly listed companies or private companies with an annual turnover exceeding AUD$10m, over AUD$5m in net assets or over 50 full-time employees). The Australian accounting profession is therefore largely self-regulated.

In addition to not having to legally register as an accountant with the government (please note the exceptions above), it is also not necessary to join an Australian professional accounting body, however employers and clients generally prefer to employ, promote or engage accountants who are members of an Australian professional accounting body. The National Institute of Accountants (NIA) is one of three gazetted assessing authorities for the ASCO occupations of Accountant, Corporate Treasurer, External Auditor and Finance Manager. The other gazetted assessing authorities are CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

All three assessing authorities use similar criteria for assessment.

To meet the educational standard for any of the above ASCO occupations you must have your educational qualification assessed by the NIA as at least comparable to an Australian Bachelor degree. For a positive assessment, your comparable qualification must include adequate coverage of at least 9 of 12 core curriculum areas. These areas are:
basic accounting
financial and corporate accounting
current issues in accounting (standards and theory)
cost and management accounting
business finance
auditing
introductory law (including contracts)
economics
statistics
computer information systems
Australian taxation law
Australian company law

It is very important to note that you may have completed study in the above areas in your qualification, however this does not necessarily mean that the NIA will recognise that study. The NIA reviews the content of what you studied and compares that study with the content of comparable areas of study in Australian Bachelor degrees. If the content of your study in a particular area is comparable to the content of that area of study in an Australian Bachelor degree, we will positively assess you against that core curriculum area. We do such comparison for all of your areas of study and if your qualifications are determined to provide adequate coverage of at least 9 of 12 curriculum areas, we will provide a positive assessment.

It is also very important to note that the assessment process the NIA provides relates only to the assessment of accounting qualifications. You should obtain and read the General Skilled Migration booklet (form 1119) available from Australian embassies, high commissions and consulates or from the Australian Department of Immigration, Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA) before applying for the assessment of your accounting qualifications.

The NIA does not become involved in migration issues outside the assessment of your qualification.

The Australian Government癡 National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (AEI-NOOSR) maintains and publishes details of overseas qualifications and their comparability to Australian qualifications. These are the criteria that the NIA must use in conducting the assessment.

ACCOUNTING SYSTEM)

1. Yes, it usually will take 1-3 months for skill assessment, so it's better to apply earlier.

2. maybe, maybe not, I can't answer this question for you, but more details on the meaning of "Accountant" (ASCO: 2211-11)

3. yes, you may ask G.M. to write for you. Since he/she is G. M. he/she should know the job description/ duties for each position.

Hope it helps. :21:
