Cranfield grows its specialist masters portfolio

Cranfield School of Management is pleased to announce the addition of two new full-time specialist masters to its graduate programmes portfolio. The MSc in Investment Management and the MSc in Management and Corporate Sustainability will launch this September.

Melvyn Peters, Director of Graduate Programmes at Cranfield School of Management commented: “The market is telling us that there is demand for both of these subjects at this level. We have centres of excellence in Finance and Corporate Responsibility so it makes sense for us to broaden our offerings to include these subjects. The Investment Management programme has been designed by our specialist finance faculty, who are experienced practitioners. The programme will run alongside our existing MSc in Finance and Management, which attracts students from across the world and is highly ranked in the major league tables.”

He went on to say: “We have a dedicated research centre in Corporate Responsibility that works to empower current and future managers to lead responsible, sustainably managed organisations. The Doughty Centre’s work will underpin the new Corporate Sustainability programme. These new programmes will complement our existing offerings and give those who want to focus on specialist areas of business the opportunity to do so.”

The one-year MSc in Investment Management will provide students with advanced knowledge of the complex world of investment management. The programme will enable students to develop a critical understanding of investment issues and develop the necessary skills in line with the requirements of the investment industry in the UK and worldwide. Students will learn about doing business in the world’s major financial hubs from experts who have worked across the globe. They will also have access to the School’s Bloomberg Suite where they can work with real time data and gain Bloomberg certification.

Course Director, Professor Sunil Poshakwale, commented: “This programme is designed for those who are looking to launch a career in the highly competitive investment industry. Delivered by highly qualified finance faculty and industry experts from the city, it will provide a thorough understanding of investment and finance techniques. Students will learn the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the investment industry and will also have the opportunity to work on an industry sponsored project for their thesis in the final term of the programme.”

The MSc in Management and Corporate Sustainability, also a one year programme, will offer a range of general management modules in conjunction with specialist modules on corporate sustainability. Students will get the opportunity to work with a corporate partner on a business project and can base their thesis on a sustainable business issue of their choice.

Course Director, Dr Andrew Angus commented: “Today, organisations that want to achieve long-term success must consider what is known as the Triple Bottom Line: economic, environmental and social performance. Corporate sustainability is key to organisational success because it is one of the few practices that can positively impact all three elements of the Triple Bottom Line. Our new programme examines the social, ethical and environmental issues faced by organisations and will equip ambitious managers with the theories, tools and techniques to embed sustainability thinking into their organisations.” http://tinyurl.com/owsrz83
